Saputara- A Calm Hill Station

Gujarat state has got many reasons to attract visitors towards it. Be it tradition, culture, palaces, long barren desert or festivals, everything here is unique. With so many things to explore here, one more place that attracts visitors is the Saputara Hill Station; located 160 km away from Surat is a calm place that you can find in Gujarat. With so many industries rising up in this state, this hill station is untouched and offers great view of mountains and forest around.  According to the legends, Lord Shri Ram had spent 11yrs from his exile in this place.

Saputara means, “Abode of Serpents” and during Holi festival, tribal and adivasi people from the nearby forest visit this river bank of the hill station to worship snake image. With the increase in the number of visitors, Saputara has been seen some infrastructure change like swimming pool, hill resort, parks, theatres and other family vacation spots.  This picturesque hill station will provide the beautiful scene of Sahyadari Mountain. Visitors can enjoy the cool air breezing from the Sahyadari peak even during the hot summer season.  The surrounding of the hill station is covered with thick forest where tribal people reside.

People can enjoy boating in the lake and along with the beautiful surrounding around.  Apart from enjoy the sightseeing; one can also enjoy having shopping with picking up some handmade beautiful jewelry, vases, paintings and other handicrafts. There is also a museum which has the collection of ancient handicraft works.

Places to Visit: Saputara Lake, Purna Sanctuary, Waghai,  Gira Falls, Unnai Mata Temple etc.

The best time to visit this place is April to July.

How to Reach:

By Air: Mumbai airport is the nearest airport

By Train: Waghai n Billimora is the nearest station from both Mumbai and Ahmedabad

By Road: The state transport runs from Mumbai and Gujarat.  This hill station is located 409kms from Ahmedabad and 51 kms from Waghai.
