Bharatpur- An Exotic Location for Birds Retreat

If you want to witness varieties of birds creeping all over the surrounding and also at the same time you want to experience the rich culture of Rajasthan in the form of forts and palaces, then  Bharatpur is the right place to be visited.  Bharatpur is known for its calm environment and also for the bird sanctuary near Keoladeo National Park, where one can find varieties of birds and animals. Every year, during winter, rare Siberian Cranes keeps visiting this place to enjoy the warm season.

Apart from that, Bharatpur is also known for its exotic locations with beautiful palaces which date back to 15th century. There are number of locations in Bharatpur which should not be missed out:

  • Keoladeo National Park:  This is the finest national park in India which has around 400 types of water birds. Earlier this was the favorite place for royal people to hunt down animals, and now is the favorite spot for tourist.
  • Government Museum:  This beautiful museum is located in the centre of Lohagarh Fort and has the collection of archeological wealth in and around Bharatpur. It was once the administrative building for Bharatpur ruler, which was turned into museum in 1944 AD.
  • Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj:  These two epic structures were built by Maharaja Suraj Mal to celebrate his victory against British and Mughal.
  • Lohagarh Fort: This strong and erect fort was built by Maharaja Suraj Mal using iron structure in 18th century.  The best thing about this fort is the structure is so tough that even though facing so many British attacks, the structure stands still even today. There are three palaces in the interior-Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Khoti Khas.
  • The Palace: This beautifully blended Mughal and Rajput has appealing apartment that attracts tourists towards it. In the center of the palace, there is a museum which displays ancient tools used by Mughals and Rajputs.

How to Reach Bharatpur:

By Air: Agra Airport is the nearest airport which is about 56-km away

By Rail: There are regular train services connecting to Bharatpur from different cities. These are Golden Temple Mail, Intercity Express and Paschim Express.

By Road: There are bus services to Bharatpur from different cities.
