Jaipur- Welcome to the Pink City

Jaipur, which is also being alternatively called as The Pink City, which symbolizes welcome was adopted during the regime of Ruler Ram Singh II. The pink color for city was chosen after many experiments because it gives a good reflection from the sun rays. The name Jaipur reflects victory which was named by mighty king Raja Jai Singh. Presently, there is a flow of tourist in Jaipur city and are mesmerized by gazing to every house here colored with pink, which holds the uniqueness of the city. Every house is a fine example of artistic and marvelous traditional houses of Rajasthan. The charming windows and colorful house with narrow streets makes the visitor go mesmerized while cruising over the city.

Jaipur is not only known for its pink color, but also some of the breathtaking palaces, forts and the traditional display by people here. There is a unique sense of display by people here which attracts tourist. Moreover, the cool climate during night makes the perfect tour experience for any tourist. Jaipur holds some of the best fair and festivals which energizes the city rhythm.  Fairs and festivals like Elephant festival, Gangaur festival, Teej festival, Jaipur festival and Kite festival can really bring exultation in you.  There are some of the best Jaipur attractions which should not be left out during your tour:

  • City Palace: Formerly known as Chandra Mahal, it is a residence of royal family which still leaves here. However, in the ground floor of the palace there is a museum opened for tourist view. Mughal manuscripts, Rajasthan miniature paintings, costumes and textiles of mughal are being displayed here.
  • Hawa Mahal: This palace was built by Raja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 and is the finest example of Rajasthan traditional architecture. It has got multi-layered color with stone screens lend which gives an additional charm to the palace.
  • Amer Palace: Built in 16th century by Raja Man Singh, Amer Palace has got the blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture which attracts visitors on a large count.
  • Nahargarh Fort:  Originally called as Tiger Fort or Sudarshan Garh was built in the year 1734 by Jai Singh II. Visitors can really enjoy the sightseeing of Man Sagar Lake.
  • Jal Mahal: This mahal was built in the 18th century and is known for its complicated architectural work. Several visitors visiting this place like the scenic beauty of lake that it gives.

Also there are  other attractions in Jaipur including  Government Central Museum, Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh, Vidyadhar’s Garden and also most prolific monument named Jantar Mantar also known as Magical Device.

How to Reach Jaipur:

By Air: Jaipur is well connected with other cities of India and has daily flights from Mumbai and Delhi.

By Rail: Jaipur is well connected with different cities of India. There are special trains like Palace on the Wheels, and The Royal Orient which runs from Delhi having 8 day trip.  Also from Mumbai, Super Fast Express, The Pink City Express, Intercity Express are trains that connects to Jaipur.

By Road: Being the capital of Rajasthan, there are good transport services available to reach Jaipur. There are deluxe and air conditioned buses available from Delhi and Agra which will take to the heart of city.
