Ranthambore- The Land of Tigers

Located at the border of Thar Desert, Ranthambore is known as the best place to be visited because it not only offers eye catchy sightseeing, but also is the home of tiger reserve.  Surrounded by Vindhya Hills and Aravali Hills, Ranthambore is the prime destination because it offers the treasure of mysterious desert which really amazes by its environment.

Earlier it was a tiger hunting ground done by Maharajas of Ranthambore until 1955. But with the announcement of Project Tiger, the hunting came to halted and was under protected reserves in 1980. Presently, the national park is the best spot for wildlife photographers and those who want to explore the Meena tribes. One can be amazed to see how this wildlife is the home of tigers and other wild animals.

It has a desert climate having hot and dry during summer and extremely chilly during winters. Being the top tourist spot in Rajasthan, Ranthambore has got some tourist attractions which will take your breath away.

Ranthambore National Park:

One of the best spot to be visited by any tourist is the Ranthambore National Park which is known as the Tiger Reserve.  This national park is spread across the area of 392 sq km and is the deciduous forest. It is surrounded by Aravalli and Vindhyan hills, along with three lakes named as Raj Bagh Talab, Milak Talab, and Padam Talab. It is the house of some wild animals like panthers, sambhars, and more than 264 species of birds.

Ranthambore Fort:

Rajasthan is known for its beautiful and lavish forts, palaces and people from around the world visit to see the architectural beauty. Ranthambore is also being counted under these spots having some famous forts built in the 10th century. Ranthambore Fort itself is the pride of the region and was built under Chauhan regime. There are temples, tanks, massive gates inside the fort which are just amazing to be seen. The Badal Mahal is also the pride of the fort.

Jogi Mahal:

Located in the heart of the forest overlooking the Padam Talab is the palace that should not be missed.  Many visitors also use it as rest house and have all the facilities in it. The compound of the palace has got largest Banyan Tree, which is also the 2nd largest tree in India.

There are number of other spots in Ranthambore which are worth enough to be visited. Also it is the best place for shoppers. There are some specific market spots near the national park which offers some good ethnic jewellary and paintings of ancient rulers of Ranthambore.

How to Reach Ranthambore:

By Air: Jaipur is the nearest airport where daily flights to different cities of country take off.

By Train: Sawai Madhopur is the station which comes between Delhi and Mumbai

By Road:  There is direct bus service from Sawai Madhopur and are well connected to different cities of Rajasthan.
